Preparing a sustainable development report can be straightforward.

October 5, 2022Is collecting ESG data for a sustainability report a major challenge?
A credible sustainability report requires accurate and detailed data. Gathering this information and combining it into a coherent whole is a significant challenge for those responsible for this task. There are several reasons for this:
- Data is scattered throughout the organization, and it’s not always clear who has access to it.
- They require a high level of precision.
- Questions often need additional explanations.
- They cover a wide range of areas (HR, environment, training, finance, health and safety, etc.), which means involving people from various departments and parts of the organization.
- People tasked with providing data have many other tasks and priorities, leading straight to delays in the whole process.
For teams responsible for timely report preparation, this can be a nightmare. But it doesn’t have to be. Using the right tool can bring all of the challenges mentioned above under 100% control. Let’s focus on timely data collection. The foundation is, of course, setting a deadline for ourselves and others to gather data (whether we like it or not, deadlines are motivating – if we know precisely when something is due, we subconsciously plan our actions to complete the task on time. It doesn’t always work out, but…). Once we have a set deadline, regularly tracking progress allows us to identify potential delays and prevent them in a timely manner. With traditional data collection, this task is extremely difficult. However, if we use a suitable tool that lets us check the progress in real-time without any additional effort and allows for timely response, we can speak of achieving 3/4 of the task successfully.
With Diaphane, it’s simple.
The Diaphane tool incorporates several mechanisms designed to simplify and facilitate.
- The tool automatically generates daily email notifications with reminders for each user who has tasks to accomplish, complete with relevant links to them.
- The person managing the process can check the progress of individual indicators to see how work is progressing in various parts of the organization and can generate reminder/nudge messages for those who haven’t yet provided their data.
With such mechanisms in place, the entire process can be completed within one to two weeks.
And the best part
The system will automatically and flawlessly consolidate all gathered data – eliminating the need to do it manually. The system will produce reports from various areas for all indicators for which data has been gathered. The manager will only need to decide on the level of detail they wish to include in the final report.
